Hey Hey Everyone! This is Asdea your Texas Talker!
Quite a lot of happenings this week!
My Rundown:Spent the weekend in San Antonio, Texas! Woot!Came home Sunday and spent a whole 20 minutes there! Was whisked off to my classes Yule Party!
That was the highlight of the weekend and it only got better!Yule has been the day I have been looking forward too since Samhain. And this year it was a big one!I got home from my three hour trip and I was exhausted. And of course I got home just in time for the Yule celebration, which was what I was planning, what I wasn't planning was being that exhausted.Well, back to the topic of this rambling. I caught a ride to the Yule celebration with a friend of mine, It was at the pagan shop owner's house. We got there and we were all just hanging out and getting the food ready and talking and laughing and having a good time. It was major fun and totally fabuloso (Spanish for Fabulous lol). Anyway the time came when we all gathered around for the ritual, and this is where it really gets exciting. A girl at the ritual got the task of cleansing us all with sage, can you see where this is heading? That went alright everyone was cleansed and everything as she went to put it out in the garden out in the front. We all gathered round to start raising energy and to build a circle. "Hand in Hand we cast the circle." So on and so forth. In the middle of it we heard a crackling. We all thought that it was the owners cat, Zeus, playing with something. Well we continued on for a few seconds, but the cracking wouldn't stop, we got timid and started to search for the cause of the noise. Zeus was not around. One of the women at the celebration cried out "Fire!" We panicked. Out of the front window I saw a great big fire! The hedges in the front garden had caught ablaze and was quickly growing. We PANICKED! Everyone was running around getting out of the house and a girl called 9-1-1 and got the fire department called, it was right down the street so it shouldn't have taken them as long as it had for them to get there. We all ran out of the front door straight past the fire. What had gotten caught was the Boxwood bushes in the front, which is an elder wood, scary, right? Then came a good Samaritan! A man had saw the flames before we did and had stopped to put them out, what a sweet man.
So, everyone rushing to put out the fire before it caught on the house. They got water hoses and put out the fire. I myself ran to the kitchen and did the stupidest thing, I found a pitcher and filled it with water form the sink, talk about having a blond moment. (laugh) The owner, Deborah is her name, got a felt blanket, felt not much smarter then me but she had good reason, she was in danger of losing her home, to beat out the fire. Well once we got the hoses going we got the fire out. Now there is a huge crater in her bushes, darkened with soot and charred branches. Wayne, the overly optimistic druid, suggested that Deborah take some mood from the burnt bush and make wands, We are just now at making wands in the class. So after we got the fire out the fire department finally arrives, from five blocks down. Tsk, tsk, tsk, they really need to do their job better, dont you think? Well anyway, Deborah's daughter goes to her and says, "They are going to come in here..." (We had alter and everything set up.) "... What are you going to tell them?" "I don't know, I will tell them that a cigarette caused it." And that is exactly what she told them.
I would have told them the truth, it is not like we were doing anything wrong, we were legally protected to do exactly what we were doing. Anyways, so we got all that done and had returned inside to continue. Well we had opted to eat before we continued, we really didn't need all the jittery excited energy we had to contaminate our calm in the circle. All the food was good, and we had calmed down enough to make jokes about the whole situation. I made one that everyone particularly found hilarious. I said, "Can you see the headlines tomorrow? 'Local witches catch the hedges on fire while doing their magickal rituals!'" Haha! Funny, right?Well, after a while, after eating and calming down, we decided to start ritual again. Everything was perfect from then on. We all participated in the making of the circle, calling the corners, the deities and we did a neat meditation and spell. The whole thing was just exciting and I had a lot of fun. It was my first Yule with others and I liked it! It was great fun!Well that was my Yule. I would like to hear about yours if you dont mind.
